[Noms.] Kalev cherry flavoured jelly candy

I don’t remember this candy from my childhood, so I am guessing it must be a newer addition to the shelves, but I think it has been there for a couple of years at least. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I tried looking up release dates for specific candies but didn’t find anything like that online. Anyway, I spotted it in the store the other day and thought that I haven’t tried that one before, so I grabbed it.

On the product page they describe the candy as follows: One of the sourest candies among the Kalev marmalade candies has an intense cherry flavour and is therefore suitable for those who are not too fond of very sweet candies.

The marmalade in the candy is super smooth and a bit gooey in texture. It feels like biting into a tiny chocolate covered morsel of smooth jam. Very pleasant mouthfeel.

It is slightly sour tasting when you first bite into it, yes, but mostly I think that the chocolate and the sugar overwhelm the sour taste quite fast. To me this is sweeter than I would normally like, but it is not bad, especially when paired with black coffee as I decided to do while tasting. I couldn’t eat more than a couple at once due to the sweetness.

The cherry flavour is nice, though I would like it to be more pronounced and not so hidden behind the general taste of sugar. I definitely don’t agree that this candy isn’t very sweet. Overall, it’s not bad at all for a small sweet treat in the middle of the day.

Will I buy/eat this candy again: I probably am not inclined to buy it again, but I would not turn it away if offered by someone.
Would I recommend this candy to others: Wouldn’t be my first recommendation, but if you like cherry flavours, sure, give it a try!

Have you tried this candy? If you have, let me know how you liked it 😀

More noms I have tried.
