Cool things I found while wasting time online #27

This is a post of interesting things I’ve found online (and sometimes offline). These things may include among others: recipes, fandom stuff, interesting articles or artwork. I tried doing this post weekly, but sometimes I was too busy to surf the web or simply didn’t find anything noteworthy the entire week, so now I will post this whenever I finally have something to share 😛

Drop me a line or two if you liked or found anything interesting in my choices as well 😀

The Bifrost Incident… 7. April 2017

 Rice cereal with milk

Tomato soup with sour cream and mozzarella

 A cheesecake flavoured kohuke

 Buckwheat-cabbage stew with sour cream

A cherry pastry and a chocolate doughnut

I spent the day listening to The Mechanisms album “The Bifrost Incident” on Spotify. I am so in love with it. It’s as if the band had opened my head up, fished around in it for ideas and then wrote this album. It’s brilliant. I had goosebumps and was jumping around the room in excitement while listening to this masterpiece. This hasn’t happened to me in a long while.

Basically, it’s like a story told in a musical form, with different voices singing as different characters. If you are into Norse mythology, steampunk, Lovecraft or all the previously mentioned, be sure to give this album a listen. You can listen or buy the album here or look it up on Spotify 🙂

  • Salvador Dali’s Toffee With Pine Cones. My first reaction to the title was bewilderment as I had always thought that actual pine cones weren’t edible, but it turns out that the recipe calls for pine nuts instead which makes so much more sense :p It seems like a fun and differently tasting candy snack idea.
  • This Goulash Soup makes my mouth water just by looking at the photos illustrating the recipe. I want to eat this so badly!
  • An interesting article about “clean eating” and why most things it claims to achieve for you doesn’t actually happen. It’s not that I don’t believe in trying to eat healthy, whatever that actually means then, it’s just that any diet taken to  extreme can do more harm than good, no matter how “healthy” it’s promoted to be.
  • I need this Spider-Man shirt, because the slogan is true! 😀
  • Aww Sanrio’s new character, Aggretsuko,  is adorable and I can so relate to her having been an office worker myself before 😀
  • This Creamy Chicken and Asparagus Bake sounds so good! I wish asparagus was in season so I could make it *drools*
  • Kickin’ Jambalaya with Cauliflower Rice. I am kind of done with cauliflower right now, after that delicious but awfully smelly soup I made, but wow, doesn’t this dish just sound absolutely delicious?
  • I want it  to get colder again and snow outside and then I want to make this Instant Pot Chicken Paprika to warm the heart 😀
  • Also, do you like the new decoration in my kitchen? Yay for Spideypool 😛

  • SHAME! If you happen to be a “Game of Thrones” TV series fan, you’ll love this 😀
  • Hahaha, I need this “Twin Peaks” lego set in my life xD
  • WOOOO I squealed so hard when I watched the first “Spider-Man: Homecoming” trailer 😀 The new Spidey is so perfectly awkward and chatty. I love it. And I am also really happy that they included Tony Stark in this 😀 I can’t wait for this movie, honestly!
  • I don’t believe in photoshopping your food and/or using tricks like described in the below video when you are a food blogger. I guess it’s fine in commercial movies and such, but it feels like blasphemy when people do it to illustrate their recipes etc. I mean, it’s fine to lighten up photos or photoshop away a stray cat hair you didn’t notice on your food when taking a photo. But taking photos when the dish is half-cooked or modifying it some other way, like they do in the video, or blatantly just photoshopping the dish to look beautifully unrealistic feels so wrong. I mean, I feel as bad when my dish doesn’t look as pretty as on the recipe photos as I feel bad when I don’t feel as pretty as all the obviously photoshopped models in fashion magazines. Well, at least this is why I personally don’t photoshop my food or why I don’t mess with it unnaturally to make it look prettier.  It’s still cool though what tricks people have developed to make food look oh so very beautiful.
  • A very fangirl Christmas song 😀

This is a post of interesting things I’ve found online (and sometimes offline) in one week. These things may include among others: recipes, fandom stuff, interesting articles or artwork. Last week was kind of crappy for me, so I didn’t even waste much time online 😀

  • How about an Akita dog idol band? xD Only in Japan I tell you! xD This is as ridiculous as it is completely adorable xD
  • This spaghetti squash with creamy avocado sauce sounds sooooooo good. I really hope I can find some more spaghetti squash so I can try it out.
  • A rap recap of Deadpool. It was funny 😀
  • I have been super intrigued with these Japanese “water cakes” as they look so beautiful, but this one takes the cake: it’s shaped like a SLEEPING CAT OMG SO CUTE! How is this food?

Since I can’t access Photobucket again to upload photos, let’s do this instead. I haven’t really made this post for a while now, because I got distracted by real life troubles.

Anyway, this is a post of interesting things I’ve found online (and sometimes offline) in one week… Well this times it’s like in a month xD These things may include among others: recipes, fandom stuff, interesting articles or artwork.

  • Look at this vodka bottle concept art 😀 I’d buy this just because of the bottle!
  • “Stranger Things” retold in 8bit 😀 So adorable and funny.
  • I really like this video for “Wynken, Blynken & Nod” by Jack and Amanda Palmer. The song is lovely too.
  • Peter Parker’s Home for the Wayward Villain” is one of the funniest and the most exciting fanfictions I have read for a while. To be honest, at first I dropped this fic after reading about half of the first chapter… it just sounded like a really stupid idea for a story: Tony Stark’s adoptive son, Peter Parker (minus powers), drops out of college and runs away from home to become a farmer in the middle of nowhere. I mean, what?  But for whatever reason I decided to continue reading and, oh by the stars, best decision ever made. This story is hilarious, with a ridiculous cast ensemble from both the Avengers universe and the X Men. If you are in any way interested in Marvel stuff and appreciate silly humor, give this fic a go 🙂
  • The  vidoe title speaks for itself 😀
  • Sneak peek at the next “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie! So excited for this!  Also, awwwwww baby Groot!
  • This One-Skillet Butternut Alfredo Baked Fusili sounded too good. I already made this (sans the baking part and a skillet) and it was glorious.
  • “American Gods” inspired Laura Moon’s chili. I already made this as well with a couple of tweaks of my own to the recipe. One tweak happened, because I bought minced beef instead of just a chunk of beef and I decided to skip the coriander as I am not a big fan of it.
  • These Ground Cherry and Pistachio Hand Pies sound too delicious!
  • An adorable Stranger Things Christmas in the style of the Charlie Brown comics (or Peanuts as it’s apparently called).
  • Another really cool Russian vodka bottle concept 😀
  • This Spaghetti Pie sounds like a really good idea for tomorrow’s dinner actually. MMMmmm carbs!

  • I am so  totally making this Pumpkin Banana Bread. I even bought the pumpkin already to make the pumpkin puree, but then I didn’t actually have the time to make it the same day and now my boyfriend is not home for a while, so I guess this baking project is postponed for a few days.
  • Aww look at these Strawberry Cthulhu cake decorations 😀 Those are so adorable!
  • I need these kitty paw gloves so I could go hunting for Pokemon in style during winter time 😀
  • Wow, this Lovecraft inspired anime looks fantastic. I love the style and the atmosphere. The music is so fitting as well. Can’t wait to see the full thing!
