19. April

 Four grain porridge with butter and a banana

I splurged on my lunch, because I had a bad day. I was supposed to have a day off, but one of my co-workers didn’t show up for his shift, so I rushed in to save the day until someone else could come in and replace me. Unfortunately, I am the only one there right now without children or a second job, so it only made sense that I’d go. I guess I wasn’t really pissed off at having to work, but because having to work, because someone else didn’t attend his duties.

21. April

 Coffee, quark with passion tefruit jam

 My new favourite tea from Marks & Spencer- refreshing cucumber, peppermint & spirulina. So good.

 Azu, which is a Tatar style pork stew, with sweet potato fries and some salad

 More coffee and a Jäämari chocolate ice-cream

I was working full day shifts for the past two days, because the guy, who didn’t show up for his shift, didn’t appear for his half-day shifts either on the next days. As far as we know, he is fine, just not allowing any contact. It has happened before. I guess he is no longer my co-worker. So, for the foreseeable future, we are understaffed in the café. They are looking for new people, but it’s not going too well as people don’t show up for their trial days and interviews like promised. Just on Thursday a lady didn’t come in for a trial day like she’d promised and only one girl showed up for an interview out of three who were supposed to come.

 I tried making this Coconut Bread Pudding. It’s not a type of bread pudding I am used to, as the kind we make in Estonia is made using white bread, usually has some sort of jam in it and is generally served in a bowl of milk. However, puff pastry, nuts and coconut sounded simply delicious, so I gave it a try. I would call the final product a coconut cake though :p

I had a couple of doctor’s appointments in the morning where I got poked and x-rayed. It’s something you must get done when you get a job that involves food and dealing with people. Since I went out without breakfast, I started feeling quite queasy on my way to get my chest x-rayed, so that explains the fries I got from McDo. I’m sure I could have found a healthier option from the nearby gas station, but half of my brain usually shuts down when I am feeling hungry and/or sick, so the cravings usually win in these scenarios xD

A day at work, our anniversary and another day at work… 27-29. March 2017

Oh boy, adult life is tiring. I am still getting used to working again, so I have been even more tired lately than usual, so I have either been busy doing stuff or napping and haven’t found a moment to update my blog xD I am a weak human being compared to so many people, whom I know, who get so much more done in their days without a fuss.


27. March – Just a regular day at work. It’s tough waking up 6:30 in the morning, but at the same time I love the morning atmosphere in the café.

 Coffee, an apple and a Sakupan Choco Monaka which was cute and yummy.

28. March – I had work in the morning and in the evening, we went out on a date to an Asian fusion restaurant with my love, because it was our 7th anniversary. Lovely times were had and great food was nommed and hopefully we will have many more amazing years together 😀 Some onigiri (with feta cheese, tuna and mayo) and a cup of coffee

 Appetizers: dim sum (shrimp flavoured) and ming kham (aka one bite wraps with shrimp, peanuts and other stuff)

 Boyfriend had a lamb rack with pistachio that was absolutely delicious.

 I had tender deer bonsu which was really yummy. I’ve never eaten deer meat before properly, so it was quite an experience. I liked the taste a lot. Also, apparently bonsu refers to the part if the deer I was eating idk.

 Dessert was “silk cake” which was divine.

29. March – I was working the evening shift, so I got home maybe around 11pm xD Bf was sweet enough to come and pick me up from work, so I didn’t have to commute back home alone ♥

Café life… 23. March 2017

It sucks to wake up so early for work ( 6:30 D: ), but at the same time I quite enjoy the quiet mornings in the café: listening to music, sweeping the floors, lighting candles and making coffee for the trickle of sleepy people craving for their first dose of caffeine.

We also had some sourdough starter on sale in the shop, so I got a pack for myself too and made the dough in the evening. It needs to sit now for about 24 hours. We’ll see what comes out of this if anything :p
