[what I ate.] 8-14. October 2018

8. October

A delicious cup of coffee before work @ The Living Room café. I had the Guatemala one. It was divine.

A slice of mushroom-bacon pizza and some chickpea-veggie soup with sour cream.

Almond-cardamom pastry.

Japanese style pork curry with rice and some pickles.

Some delicious candies.

9. October

I had a crappy morning, thus coffee and candy in a dreary bust stop on my way to work.

Chili sin carne with brown rice.

Coffee and a banana-chocolate muffin.

Japanese style pork curry with rice.

10. October – Concert in Helsinki

Yummy blueberry-raspberry yoghurt and a crappy salmon-shrimp salad on our way to Helsinki.

Chicken tofu bowl for lunch. Hubby had beef.

Dinner @ Zetor. I had sautéed reindeer with mashed potatoes, lingonberries and pickles. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was super soft and the flavour lush.

A peanut butter-chocolate chip filled taiyaki. So good!

11. October – Back to Tallinn

Epic buffet on the boat: croissants, mini doughnuts, coffee, beer, bulgur-edamame salad, ham, cold smoked salmon, some tomato and cucumber, pickles, meatballs, beetroot-oatmeal balls, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, baked salmon. Everything was super good, except the bulgur-edamame salad which was flavourless and the meatballs that were a bit dry.

More coffee, chocolate mousse, vanilla ice cream and chocolate ice cream. I added some strawberry jam which was yummy and bean “crisps” that were not so very good xD

Japanese style pork curry with rice.

12. October

A caffé latte and a red velvet coconut ball @ Surf Café

Salmon soup.

Coffee and a cookie-hazelnut-chocolate truffle.

Bacon-garlic-cheese pastry.

Tonkotsu soy ramen and Midori Illusion cocktail (Midori Liqueur, Triple Sec, vodka, lemon juice, pineapple juice) @ Washoku Story.

Shared this cheesecake with Kerttu @ a neighboring café of which I can’t remember the name of 8D

A yuzu mocktail and a crappy-ish coffee at the same place.

More coffee and a couple of these cookie-hazelnut-chocolate truffles.

13. October

Wheat crackers with tuna. Also had some coffee.

Boiled potatoes with chanterelle sauce and some pickled cucumber. Also had a grape-banana smoothie.

14. October

Boiled potatoes with chanterelle sauce.

Coffee, a grilled sandwich with cheese and sausage.

Toast and scallop carpaccio at my parents’ house.

Pasta with scallops and chorizo.

Berry triffle.

Guardians of the Galaxy and so much coffee… 27-28. April 2017

27. April

 Omelette with rye bread

Had a doughnut, a cinnamon roll and some coffee

 Buckwheat with chanterelle sauce

With Loviise and Indrek @ Gotsu, Kyuho’s Kitchen

 Lemonade

Kimchi stew and rice, some rice rolls with minced meat and chili paste filling

A Guardians of the Galaxy themed blueberry cupcake 😀

Loviise came to Tallinn. We had dinner in Gostu and then went to the premiere of “Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2.” There was a whole event around it with cupcakes and cosplayers :p I made my reluctant boyfriend take a photo with Mantis and Gamora too xD There was also a quiz before the movie and I did fairly well, scoring the 6th place overall out of about a 100 players xD

I snagged these photos from the Kino Kosmos IMAX facebook page.

My tortured boyfriend with some awesome cosplay ladies :p

A tiny high-five! with Baby Groot 😀 And is that just me or does Star-Lord’s shirt look like it says “baby boy”? xD

The movie itself was fantastic. It was so fun. I have a hard time putting it to words how much I loved it.

28. April

Oatmeal porridge with a banana, and a cup of coffee

Eva is in Estonia 😀 We met up for lunch in Vegan Restoran V. I had a delicious smoothie while we discussed all that ails us like proper old people :p

Black bean noodle salad with guacamole and peanut sauce

Chocolate avocado cream with cherry sauce

Then we had coffee in a nearby café. I also had a pistachio roll.

After meeting Eva, I picked up Loviise and went to show her where I work. Had another coffee and a bacon-onion pastry.

Rice with tuna, cabbage and soy sauce with some cottage cheese and salad

 Sea-buckthorn lemonade

Good job, have some lemonade… 25-26. April 2017

25. April

 Coffee and carrots

Pesto pasta and salad. I was not happy with the “salad” so I took it back to the kitchen and demanded some cucumber and tomato in it. Also, is it strange to want to eat a salad with pasta? The chef sure thought so, because apparently the pasta was already green :p

Spicy barley and potato stew with sour cream + a sausage sandwich

Coffee and Karl Fazer Rio De Janeiro Mint & Choco Drops infused in milk chocolate

26. April

Coffee, a strawberry kohuke and two cranberry kohuke

 Coconut-lime smoothie bar

Buckwheat with chanterelle sauce, tomato-sour cream salad and some marinated cucumber

 Realist ginger-peppermint lemonade

Last day… 22. September 2016

Coffee, mulk’s porridge with chanterelle-pork sauce.

Vitamin Well Reload vitamin water and What the Fruit raspberry snack bar.

Had two of these vanilla kohuke.

 Rum pastries. Bad photo.

Coffee and cookie cake @ Kohvik Maiasmokk.
You, bitch behind the counter, who you were a complete dick to a confused tourist and later refused to give some tap water to an old lady, I hope you realize what a crap impression you left of the establishment you work in. Sadly, I am not a confrontational person by nature and tend to make things worse when I do try to confront people, because I’m not very eloquent in stating my thoughts. I do however hope you noticed us buying the old lady the water you refused to give her and I hope you felt at least some remorse because you are an awful human being. In hindsight I should have tried to ask for tap water too to see if you’d give it to me but not to her. I am still contemplating if I should write to her employers.

A mimosa @ Telliskivi No15

 Spicy chicken wings

Tuna steak with mint risotto, oven baked veggies and fennel sauce. I hadn’t had tuna for ages (if you don’t count canned tuna and I don’t) and it was super yummy.

 Beer @ Hell Hunt

 Potato fries with ketchup

On the last day of our guests being here we visited the Estonian Open Air Museum. Sadly, we only managed to see about a quarter of the exhibit as it started raining heavily and none of us were prepared for that. I really want to go back there on a better day and explore more, because that place is amazing.

We went to The Museum of Occupations instead. That place was rather depressing to be honest, but at the same time interesting. For a small nation, us Estonians have been through a lot and under many occupations. Only for a little while have we been our own country. Kind of weird this all.

The day ended at Hell Hunt where I got really really drunk xD

This is how we used to live

 A big cock

 Homely

 Windmill

 Resting our feet

 A fisherman’s home

 A traveller’s suitcase

At the Museum of Occupations there was an exhibition about homosexuality during Soviet times.

Randomness in town: that sounds like a challenge :p

It was great finally meeting Sempi and Sylva in real life. The week we spent with them was loads of fun. I got to visit so many places with them I hadn’t been to before and got to eat so much delicious food as well.

The zoo and an escape room… 20. September 2016

Oatmeal porridge with honey and a cup of coffee.

Golden fried shrimp (with potato breading and sweet & spicy sauce) @ Mack Bar-B-Que. These were so yummy!

Damnation burger (mozzarella, fiery hot mayo, jalapeno salsa, nachos, coleslaw). So juicy and deliciously spicy! I also had a delicious orange lemonade.,

Mulk’s porridge with chanterelle and pork sauce; some salad and buttered rye bread on the side.

We went to the zoo in the morning and ended up spending most of the day there. I keep forgetting how big Tallinn Zoo has become and how long it actually takes to walk through the entire place. I love the zoo though and I am always so happy to see how they are working over there to give all the animals better habitats. The place used to be a tiny terrible concrete box where all animals lived in small cages with no greenery around, but now it’s really becoming a beautiful place with hopefully happier animals.

 Pretty Bird

 Aliens

 Food Time

One of the golden eagles took a particular interest in my boyfriend and chased him around in his cage. This was super peculiar!

 Big Cow

 Nomznomz

 *yawn*

 Derpy Goat

The Scariest Carnivore of Them All. Yikes!

 All the Monkeys xD

 Baby Monkey ♥

 A Blue Crab

 What?

 Vantsid ♥

Later in the evening we went to Escape Room. I’ve never been to an escape room before so I had really no idea what to expect. We tried out their “Prison Break” game where you had to, surprise-surprise, bust out of a prison in 60minutes. I am so glad I went there with smart people, because I couldn’t have figured out half of the puzzles myself xD I managed to open one code locked box, which was my only feat in the game… but it was super fun! We had about 8 minutes left on the timer when we got out. I want to go again 😀

We eventually crashed at our place where I cooked our guests some dinner. First time I managed a proper mulk’s porridge, so I think this all was a success 😀
