Treat yo’ self… 13. October 2017

Coffee and an apple. I didn’t eat the lemon yoghurt cream, because the texture was weirdly liquid and the taste weird.

I decided I needed a treat after my work week, so I went to Gelato Ladies and got myself a scoop of chocolate ice cream and their Halloween special black ice cream :p People looked at me weird, when I walked around eating black ice cream xD

Treats continue: a small pastry from RØST. It looked so good, but it was too sweet for me 😦

Even more treats: a sourdough sandwich with salmon also from RØST. I love their bread.

Oven baked pumpkin and potatoes with some sour cream and a side of sliced cucumber.

Lehe Ravnodenstvie BA Russian Imperial Stout. This was a super intense flavour bomb. Loved it! It was a good company to the nightmare rift run we did with my guild in Rift 🙂

Pet all the puppies!… 10. October 2017

A quark pastry, a wiener pastry and a cup of coffee.

Pasta carbonara with some cherry tomatoes.

 Skyr with honey.

Rice with tuna, tomatoes, sour cream and wasabi-sesame spice.

There are amazing pros and cons to working in a café. The pros are that we have a pet friendly establishment, so I get to pet a lot of cute dogs and an occasional ferret among other critters. No one has sadly brought their cat yet.

The cons are occasional unsavoury customers. For instance, this time a very drunken and smelly Russian guy first bothered women in the bus stop in front of our café, then came inside and attempted to bother my female customers. I told him to stop and managed to keep him away from my clients, but then he started professing his love to me over the counter. I played dumb, told him that I hardly understood what he was saying and invited our tall male chef to come and translate for me. The drunken guy didn’t seem to like that xD Ugh, I was so relieved when we finally got him to leave.

Coffee grinder… 4. October 2017

Coffee, a pear and a nectarine

 A quark pastry

A different style of pasta with squid, grated cheese and some baby tomatoes

A pancake stuffed with banana slices and drizzled with honey

A glass of red wine after work. It was a lame wine, the taste of it disappeared in your mouth, so it felt you were simply drinking something… meh.

Vegetable stew with smoked lamb and some sour cream on top

We went and bought a nice coffee grinder with my boyfriend after we both got off work. It was an early birthday present for my boyfriend that is actually kind of for the both of us :p The grinder will take a bit of getting used to and we will have to figure out the fineness of the grind that is suitable for our coffee machine. The first attempt was with a recommended setting for filter coffee and it wasn’t good at all xD I can’t wait to buy all the amazing artisan roasted beans tho! First I’ll get the Autumn blend from Haba when pay day arrives this month and I think they are going to ship my beans from Dodger Coffee Co soon as well 😀 So excited for coffee!

Mushroom hunting… 23. September 2017

 Skyr with cherry jam

 Coffee and cookies

A really crappy ham and cheese pastry. This was awfully dry.

 Brioche with honey

 Omg, look at this chicken!

Stewed chicken and vegetables with some tomato salad

 A yummy rum pastry

Rye bread with butter, some sült and tomato

We went to Southern Estonia for the weekend. When we got to our destination, we were greeted with a delicious chicken dish for lunch. After the glorious meal we went to the forest to hunt for mushrooms. I think we spent over 4 hours in the forests… sadly we didn’t get as many mushrooms as I had hoped, because the season for them is over, but it was still great as a long hike.

 Buzzer

 Ants

 A funky mushroom growth

Looks fluffy, but it was not

 Old stump

 Fly amanita

 Look out?

 A drop of red

 Gloopy looking

 Mushrooms up a tree

After the mushrooms adventure, everyone else went to a party nearby, but I was too exhausted to join them, so I took a nap on the couch. Later when they were back from the party, we went to sauna which was really nice…. I’d say it was a day well spent.

Rough day… 18. September 2017

 Cranberry kohuke

Two bacon and cheese pastries straight out of the oven

 Miso soup @ Tokumaru

Chicken katsu curry. I felt upset and tired after my doctor’s appointment, so I decided to treat myself to something nice. This truly hit the spot.

 Salad with lamb’s lettuce

Potato and minced meat stew with sour cream

I went and opened the café before my doctor’s appointment in the morning. Then I had the appointment which was… difficult. So, after I had run a few more errands, I treated myself to some nice food and then went home to sleep. The evening was quite a lot more tolerable after my long nap. Sometimes nice food and sleeping the day away are just the answers you need.

Jam, jam, making jam… 11. September 2017

Rye bread with butter and coffee for breakfast

I spent most of the day cleaning the lingonberries Loviise picked for me.

Then I set a jarful of lingonberry kvass to ferment. Going to be an interesting experiment for sure. The yellow glob in the bottom is honey.

Rye cereal with honey and milk for lunch

After that I made lingonberry-apple jam.

A luscious chanterelle beef burger from Diner. OMG HEAVENNNN! I had planned to make dinner at home, even bought the ingredients, but since my stove is tiny and the bubbling jam pot was big, I had no room on the stove for anything else. Thus, the take-out.

 But I gots jam!
