November… 26-27. January 2017

26. January

Sandwiches with ham and tomato + a cup of coffee

Fried sausages, some salted cucumber, salad with avocado, and yuzu miso soup with sesame seeds

27. January

A couple of boiled sausages, some salted cucumber, and avocado sandwiches

Apple juice, French fries with tomato dip @ Estonian Burger Factory

This enormous burger was called “väike Myy” (Little Myy) xD And I ordered it just because of the name, since I have been somewhat on a big Moomins kick lately :p It was HUGE and delicious!

A few years ago, me and my boyfriend, supported a movie project on Hooandja (Estonian kickstarter) and now the movie is finally done. It’s called “November” and it’s based on a book “Rehepapp ehk November” by Andrus Kivirähk. As a supporter benefit, we got to go and see the movie premiere for free. Now the movie was good for an Estonian movie (about 95% of Estonian movies tend to look and feel like bad stage plays), but it wasn’t really what I initially hoped the movie would be. I still enjoyed it, however I wish there had been more folk-magic and black humor involved, like in the book, instead of long shots of nature where nothing happened. I guess they decided to go in more of the “deep and artsy” direction than magic and dark folklore. I mean, there was still some of the folklore and humor in it, but only a small portion of it. Oh well. The kratt’s, to whose development we gave money for, looked pretty awesome tho 😀

I almost became a thief… 22. January 2017

Sandwiches with smoked ham and cucumber; pumpkin soup with sesame seeds.

Potato and mushroom varenyky with sour cream and salad.

We went grocery shopping with my boyfriend and we also picked up a big pack of toilet paper. Since the package didn’t fit in our shopping basket, I carried it. It was hot in the store, so at some point I had taken off my coat, which I was carrying hanging over the same hand I held the toilet paper on. When we got to the cashier, boyfriend started unloading things from the basket and I moved to the cashier to register my loyalty card etc. completely forgetting that I was still carrying around the toilet paper. We paid, packed our stuff and started leaving the store. Before stepping outside, I started putting on my coat and it was then when I realised I had just walked out the store with a huge pack of toilet paper without paying for it. I freaked out and ran back to the information stand, where I explained what had happened and paid for the item. It would have been so embarrassing if the security had caught us :s

On our way home, we wondered how many people would have just left with the unpaid item if the security hadn’t spotted them, like happened to us. What would you have done? Would you have gone back to pay for the item or would you have continued on your way, happy with your accidentally “free” item?

Being social… 20-21. January 2017

20. January

A croissant with ham and veggies and a latte @ KUKU Kohvik

A beetroot burger with peanuts and a cup of coffee @ Green Bakery

Fried up baked potatoes, tomato and zucchini

Sandwiches with avocado and smoked ham, pumpkin soup with roasted sesame seeds

A tiny piece of raspberry cake and another cup of coffee

We got this chocolate as a souvenir from the Tallinn TV Tower. Shared it as a late-night snack with my boyfriend.

First of all, good news is that the weekend ice track madness was cancelled. Sad for my boyfriend, good for me. I’m selfish.

In the morning, I met up with Maarja for some coffee and catch up time. Since most places, we were interested in visiting, were still closed, we ended up meandering around the old town for a while and eventually stopped at KUKU café mostly because their prices didn’t freak us out like the many other places on our way did, where we stopped to look at the menus :p Their stuffed croissant was juicy and yum. Later we walked to Green Bakery that is a small café slash bookstore. I liked the atmosphere of the place a lot. The veggie burger was good too, however I would have used less seasoning on it, because I could hardly taste the beetroot.

It was a lovely café filled morning 😛

21. January

Smoked ham sandwiches, pumpkin soup with cheese sand sesame seeds

Jeriska’s Chips: potato chips with balsamico vinegar. These were quite atypical for potato chips and tasted might fine.

Lentil chips with chili powder (didn’t fancy these as much), cranberries in powdered sugar, grapes

Lavash rolls with ham, cheese and sausage bites, carrots

Hazelnut and almond cake that was super tasty

Strawberry cake that tasted okay, but wasn’t anything mind blowing

We visited our friends Mati and Merle in the evening to play some board games. We played a long game of Ticket to Ride, which I think is my favourite board game now. I like the way it’s still competitive without having to maliciously screw everyone else over all the time. I had lots of fun and ate lots of crappy food.

I also drank too much coffee over the past few days 😄 It has been great! xD

Friends… 20-21. Dec 2016

20. December

A slice of mushroom and ham quiche and a cup of coffee @ Gustav Café. The quiche was not good at all, I only ate half of it. It had too much seasoning which made it very unpleasant to eat.

Maarja

Chicken curry @ Little India. Very good stuff for a lunch  menu offering. Yum!

 Potato paratha

 Ham sandwich and coffee

Pelmeni with sour cream and some kimchi

 Tea and a rum pastry

Shopping is hard. I spent the day with Maarja, walking around in a local super market and trying to find myself a new coat or something else to wear outside, because my only jacket was falling apart. According to my pedometer I walked 22km that day; also, I got a blister under my foot, I lost my lip piercing, a button from my old coat and broke two nails xD At least the company was good ♥ and I eventually did find a suitable parka to wear… at the very last store I went to xD

21. December

A couple of rum pastries and a cup of coffee

Glass noodles with wakame and sour cream

I had a beer and some deep fried potato peels with Anna ♥

Chicken kimchi stew with some rice

I spent the day running errands and organising Yule presents. In the evening I met up with Anna for a few hours to grab a beer and to catch up. Was lovely!

Clean… 11. Dec 2016

 Coffee and a banana

Spicy coconut milk soup with shrimp, tofu, rice noodles and rice

Coffee and some orange flavoured Daim candies

 Ham and cheese sandwich

More of the spicy coconut milk soup with shrimp, tofu, rice noodles and rice

We spent most of the day cleaning our apartment. Having clean surroundings feels so good… but it always lasts only for a hot minute. Just long enough for you to finally sit down to relax with a cup of coffee and spill it all over the clean table cloth… and so the mess begins anew xD

Binge… 19-20. November 2016

19. November

No photos, because I was feeling terrible and overate on too much crappy food. Not proud of myself at all 😦

20. November

A couple of doughnuts and a cup of coffee.

Two sandwiches with ham and avocado.

A spicy and sour soup made with tom yum paste, mushrooms, chicken and glass noodles.

Café cat… 15-16. November 2016

15. November

 A banana.

 Salad, fried eggs, ham sandwiches.

A ham sandwich and buckwheat soup with cheese.

Sweet potato chocolates. They were super sweet, but went surprisingly well with tea.

16. November

Oatmeal porridge with honey and some persimmon.

Minced meat pie and a café latte @ Nikolay

Another slice of the minced meat pie and then some quark pie.

I met up with Marit in the evening and we got some pie @ Nikolay bar-buffet. The place was really nice with delicious pies, cheeky Russian boys behind the counter and they even had a giant red fluffy cat living in their establishment. I think more cafés and restaurants need a cat or a dog 😀 There is a photo of the cat on my Instagram if you’d like to see.
