We went to see “Alita: Battle Angel” (2019) with hubby, because he is a fan of the original manga/anime. I loved the film! It was fun and interesting and so well made. Some people bitch about the huge android eyes, but I loved them a lot and I think they suited the character. Totally recommend the experience.

[what I ate.] 13-19. August 2018

13. August – meeting up with Anna

Two ham sandwiches.

Cocktails and beer @ NOK NOK with Anna. My cocktail was called Foxtail and it consisted of whisky, pumpkin, carrot, pineapple and ginger. It was delicious.

Laab Gai (spicy chicken salad with mint, roasted rice powder and red onion) and I had a few bites of Anna’s Som Tom Thai (raw papaia salad with shrimp, peanuts and tamarind sauce).

Soymilk pudding with fruit salad. The food was simply delicious and the service exemplary 😀

Oven omelette with mushrooms, tomato and eggplant + some cucumber salad.

14. August – playing with glass

Leftover oven omelette with mushrooms, tomato and eggplant.

Some candy. I went to a glass workshop with Kadi which was super fun. It was cool to learn how to cut glass etc.

Hazelnut ice cream. Kadi had a cherry popsicle.

Seafood risotto and some salad.

15. August

Beetroot soup with sunflower seeds and a cheese pastry.

Rye bread with garlic butter.

Oven omelette, rye bread with butter and some salad.

Shared with hubby: orange cake (that was yummy) and a lemon flavoured twice-baked slice of baguette (which was also tasty).

More shared goodies: a delicious crunchy senbei and some rich orange biscuits that tasted okay.

16. August

A cheese pastry.

Some delicious rye bread.

A pastry with red currant jam.

Magnum double peanut butter chocolate.

Baked potatoes and chicken with some cucumber.

Shared snacks with hubby: Strawberry Pukupukutai (cute and yummy!), soybean rice crackers (I loved the crackers, wasn’t a fan of the included peanuts), honey castella cake (this was weird and moist, but tasty I guess), chocolate-banana cookie (that was okay).

17. August – meeting up with Eva

Tuna-cottage cheese pie and some salad.

Hazelnut pastry, cheese roll and some coffee.

Dinner with Eva @ NOK NOK. Started with some cocktails. Mine was called Golden Emerald and it consisted of rum, lime, green apple, cucumber and matcha. It was super tasty and refreshing.

We shared a Som Tom Thai (raw papaia salad with shrimp, peanuts and tamarind sauce) and Gae Tod Prik Thai Dum (crispy fried lamb with black pepper sauce). The rice was complimentary with the dishes.

Then I had Tom Yum Goong (spicy prawn and mushroom soup) that was super spicy and great.

Tuna sandwich.

Coffee and fig in chocolate.

Instant noodles with sour cream.

Sour and spicy soup with quinoa and mushrooms.

Some grapes.

19. August

Porridge with strawberry jam.

An orange lollypop.

A beef burger. The burger itself was good but was ruined by the bbq sauce they added as it overwhelmed all tastes.

Nuts and seeds in dark chocolate.

Coffee, figs in chocolate.

Sour and spicy soup with quinoa and mushrooms.

TotalBiscuit… 25. May 2018

Greek yoghurt with fig jam.

Lemon-lime ice cream.

Coffee and grilled sandwiches with Nutella.

A green smoothie.

Tomato soup with orzo and sour cream.

Coffee and shared treats with hubby: super fluffy kinako mochi that was delicious, fruit pound cake that was excessively sweet, so I let my hubby have it, and sweet potato cookie that was okay tasting.

I read the news that John “ToatlBiscuit” Bain died after a long battle with cancer and it shook me more than I expected it would. I listened to his podcast called Co-Optional for the past 6 or 7 years and enjoyed when he and his wife Genna snarked over different game award shows or reviewed snack boxes together etc. I don’t think I would have called myself his fan, but he was in a way part of my life for years and even though I never met him in person, I got to know him through his shows and social media. So, it hurt a lot when I learned he had died and at such a young age as well- he was only 33! I cried for a bit, reading people writing up their memories about him, ate a lot of comfort food and then went to sleep and slept most of the day, because fuck, I didn’t feel like doing anything after this. I was grieving.

Work and fun… 12. May 2018

 Coffee, puffed wheat with milk.

Chili sin carne with some salad and a boiled egg. Also had some water and cherry kombucha.

 Coconut-banana pastry.

Some after work work while I waited for Marit @ Gelato Ladies. They make a very delicious ice cream coffee.

I had a scoop of avocado ice cream and a scoop of kiwifruit-banana ice cream.

Cranberry juice with lime and mint @ Popular

Potato bites with sour cream. These were supposed to be potato croquettes, and I expected something handmade, not prefabricates :/ Marit wasn’t happy with her jalapeno poppers either, because they were cream cheese nuggets instead that were mildly jalapeno flavoured.

Coffee and an éclair from Pavlova.

Errands… 5. April 2018

Coffee, potato salad, warm sandwich with smoked meat and cheese.

 A green smoothie.

Some Kalev Laguun candies. Nice wafer candies with coconut flavour.

 Chicken pasta and some tomatoes.

Kolk Nümf: strawberry and lime witbier. It was okay.

We went to Võru to run some errands. I handed in paperwork for a new ID and a passport and Indrek needed to do something at the Road Administration. After we were done, we visited the Võru History Museum, which was quite fun. I learned that once swamp turtles, wild horses and woolly rhinos used to roam around Estonia. Must have been warm here once if there was turtles.

A family lunch… 31. March 2018

 Coffee and some apple.

We had lunch with my closest relatives, because they wanted to congratulate us on our marriage. Since I didn’t feel like cooking, I ordered a buffet from Tervise Catering and it was lovely:

Potato gratin, vegetable wok, slow cooked beef in red wine sauce, salmon in creamy lime sauce. The beef was super tender and delicious and I was really fond of the gratin too.

Duck sandwich bites, potato salad, fresh salad with strawberries and seeds, chocolate mousse with berries. Everything was so good!

It was the first time I used a catering service myself and I must admit it is very convenient. I didn’t have to worry about anything else other than settling the menu. A very lovely young man delivered the food, set it up and after we were done, he returned to clean it all up. No stressing in the kitchen, no washing up! I’m a fan.

Hot and sour soup with Chinese cabbage, minced meat, quinoa and sour cream. Also had some meat pastries my grandmother brought us.

Last day… 16. February 2018

A beef empanada, cocoa pudding and a chocolate kohuke for breakfast.

 A tangerine.

Strawberry-apple cider and two lamb chebureks with sour cream.

Fried shrimp with toast and salad at Telliskivi 15.

My intense looking dinner date ♥ He ate a salmon steak and I had boletus risotto.

It was my last work day at Koloniaal. It wasn’t particularly different from any other work day, just in the evening I handed in my keys and packed my stuff to take home. I was somewhat tired and confused tho, so we went and had dinner before heading home. I don’t think I would have been able to cook that evening xD
