It was the Pelgulinna Street Festival and one part of the event was people opening one day cafés in their gardens. We went and helped out my mom with hers. We offered grilled lamb, lamb liver and some pork. I also baked some pear-halvah cake and mom sold her homemade jams and salads. We did pretty well 😀 I also managed to sell some of my old books, so yay! Ah and we had live music! My mom’s neighbour lady came and played with her band 😀 It was a good day!

We took an early train to Tartu where we met up with Ly and her kids. They had a BMX race happening during the weekend and my boyfriend agreed to go and take photos of the event for her. I had zero patience for the event, so I headed out to town on my own. However, before I did that, Ly gave us her car and we went to some bike shop, so bf could try on some helmets. When we returned to the event venue, boyfriend back the car into a tree while parking, so the rear window of the car exploded. It was super scary, but luckily neither one of us was injured…. just the car.

Anyway, I left my boyfriend at the race venue and headed to the city center. I ended up walking around 15 km and most of the walking was done, because I couldn’t find a café to sit down for ages xD People in Tartu sure love their Saturday morning cafés xD So I ended up walking a lot in-between sitting in two different cafés and reading a book. I’d say it was a good day really.

We spent the evening in Kiuma where we had an awesome dinner.

12. March, Sunday

A galette with chicken, cheese and avocado and a latte @ Crepp

 Coffee @ SÄDE

Chocolate covered doughnuts on the train on our way home 😀

 Some carrots

Boiled khinkali with sour cream and some salad

Sunday was a chill day on my own again. Bf went to the race venue with Ly again and I walked around Tartu, did some shopping (got some doughnuts for the ride home and found an Avengers blanket xD), had coffee and read a book in some cafés and visited the Tartu Toy Museum which was simply awesome. I didn’t mind hanging out on my own at all, it was kind of relaxing actually and I enjoyed visiting new cafés in Tartu 😀 My feet hurt from all the walking I did xD

In the evening, we took the train again back home to Tallinn. Boyfriend managed to catch a cold or some bug during the weekend, so I am hoping to avoid catching whatever he has :s

Café time… 4. February 2017

 Buckwheat porridge with raspberry jam

Coffee and a pancake with bacon and cheese filling @ Koloniaal

A banana with peanut butter, puffed rice and puffed honey wheat

Mashed potatoes with mushroom sauce and some salad

My boyfriend took his nephew to see a BMX competition (Simple Session) and since I had no interest in joining them, but didn’t really want to sit at home alone either, I decided to go out for a walk and maybe check out a few cafés I had thought about sending my CV’s to, but hadn’t done so yet, because I couldn’t really tell via Facebook what they were like. I am a bit specific on the places where I’d like to work.

I walked around Telliskivi area for a while and found a couple of new cafés where I’d like to know if they are maybe hiring. Eventually I plopped down for some lunch and a cup of coffee at a place called Koloniaal that is part bakery, part organic food store, part café. The pancake was great and the coffee good too. I ended up sitting there for several hours and reading a book. It was really cosy. I have always wanted to do that: go to a café and read a book, but I have never actually done it. Well at least not as far as I can remember. The café in my university doesn’t count, because that was usually out of necessity rather than pleasure.

Later I pondered over the café visit and the fact that I did something I’ve been fantasizing about for ages. I wonder if this, the fact that I am willing to step out of my comfort zone, means I am doing a bit better? I mean, I do go to cafés often, but usually not alone and if I do go alone, it’s usually to grab a quick bite or buy coffee to go, not to sit there for hours to read or whatnot.

Anyway, it was a new experience. I hope to do something like that again soon.
