Rough day… 18. September 2017

 Cranberry kohuke

Two bacon and cheese pastries straight out of the oven

 Miso soup @ Tokumaru

Chicken katsu curry. I felt upset and tired after my doctor’s appointment, so I decided to treat myself to something nice. This truly hit the spot.

 Salad with lamb’s lettuce

Potato and minced meat stew with sour cream

I went and opened the café before my doctor’s appointment in the morning. Then I had the appointment which was… difficult. So, after I had run a few more errands, I treated myself to some nice food and then went home to sleep. The evening was quite a lot more tolerable after my long nap. Sometimes nice food and sleeping the day away are just the answers you need.

Lovely birthday… 9. April 2017

It was my birthday 😀 I am now level 31. It was also my little brother’s birthday, he turned 10.

For breakfast, I had half a pack of these cherries in chocolate.

Then my boyfriend and I went to a Japanese restaurant called YUI for lunch. We arrived about 10 minutes before they were officially open, because we messed up and looked up the opening hours for Saturday instead of Sunday. Oops. However, the waiting staff was super nice and didn’t send us back out of the door 😀

 My lovely lunch date ♥

We ordered a lot of food! xD

First we shared some tempura (battered and deep-fried seafood/vegetables), which I must say is the best you can get in Tallinn as far as I am concerned. There was tempura prawns, salmon and assorted veggies with matcha and curry salt.

Then we shared these tuna-mayo maki rolls.

Prawn creamy croquettes which were oh so creamy and tasty!

 Miso soup

I had a tonkatsu o-bentou (fried pork lunchbox meal), which had rice with more tempura, wakame salad, breaded pork cutlet and a couple of sushi bites.

Look how happy this food made me ;D

A taiyaki (fish shaped cake with sweet bean filling) with honey and ice cream. Never did I imagine I could one day eat taiyaki in Estonia. It’s like a dream come true.

Boyfriend had tofu blancmange with matcha ice-cream as a dessert.

Yui was a great. The atmosphere was lovely, the service swift and polite, and the food delicious. The tastes were so nostalgic and made me miss Japan 😦

We took a hour long walk in Kadiroru park and the seaside after lunch.

 Birdies

 A pretty swan

 Mr. Spock

Later in the evening we went bowling with my family and a bunch of my brother’s friends. This was also fun 😀

 Bowling-oni

 Having a celebratory drink

I had a great birthday for sure 😀

November… 26-27. January 2017

26. January

Sandwiches with ham and tomato + a cup of coffee

Fried sausages, some salted cucumber, salad with avocado, and yuzu miso soup with sesame seeds

27. January

A couple of boiled sausages, some salted cucumber, and avocado sandwiches

Apple juice, French fries with tomato dip @ Estonian Burger Factory

This enormous burger was called “väike Myy” (Little Myy) xD And I ordered it just because of the name, since I have been somewhat on a big Moomins kick lately :p It was HUGE and delicious!

A few years ago, me and my boyfriend, supported a movie project on Hooandja (Estonian kickstarter) and now the movie is finally done. It’s called “November” and it’s based on a book “Rehepapp ehk November” by Andrus Kivirähk. As a supporter benefit, we got to go and see the movie premiere for free. Now the movie was good for an Estonian movie (about 95% of Estonian movies tend to look and feel like bad stage plays), but it wasn’t really what I initially hoped the movie would be. I still enjoyed it, however I wish there had been more folk-magic and black humor involved, like in the book, instead of long shots of nature where nothing happened. I guess they decided to go in more of the “deep and artsy” direction than magic and dark folklore. I mean, there was still some of the folklore and humor in it, but only a small portion of it. Oh well. The kratt’s, to whose development we gave money for, looked pretty awesome tho 😀

Date night… 13. Dec 2016

Omelette with mushrooms and ham. Also, had a cup of coffee.

Instant miso and polar bread with butter and ham.

Dinner @ Gostu, Kyuho’s Kitchen: I had kimchi stew and boyfriend had fried chicken with garlic-chili sauce. We also snacked on some appetizers: wakame in chili sauce, pickled onion and soy marinated peanuts. There was another appetizer, but we couldn’t really tell what it was xD Maybe it was kale? I have no idea what kale would taste like xD We also both had green tea lattes. Delicious dinner!

Chamomile tea and some ice cream.

I did some shopping earlier in the day at a local Japanese food store; stocked up on some tsuyu and ponzu and whatnot. Then I went and picked up our costumes for the Christmas party from the television studio and went to the post office to get my JOIK order. So, I did quite a lot of walking which was really nice.

In the evening, we went and had dinner @ Gotsu, because they are going on their winter holiday next week and I really wanted to go there before that. We stocked up with some of their chili paste and kimchi too :p Expensive, but worth it! We have been spending so much money on trivial things this month; things like mugs and food and clothes and toys etc. This is why we can never manage to save up 😦 I have guilt, lots of it over the spending.

Spicy spicy… 8. Dec 2016

Wakame and egg miso over rice and a cup of coffee

A couple of rice cakes with chorizo and avocado

A spicy sloppy joe (had 2 of these) and some salad

We went to sleep late the previous night, so I ended up sleeping until noon :/ The day felt super short thanks to that and I didn’t get much done other than getting groceries, doing the dishes and making dinner. Not that I had any magnificent plans in general, but I still felt disappointed in myself. Oh well.

Two quiet days… 6-7. Dec 2016

6. December

Porridge with honey and peanut butter.

Oven baked potatoes, beef sült (head cheese), smoked Baltic herring, salad with bok choy and a cottage cheese salad with sour cream and dill. Boyfriend was cooking again 😀

7. December

Porridge with honey and peanut butter

Rice with pumpkin seeds and miso soup with wakame and egg over it. Also, some salad with salted cucumber and garlic.

 Caramel waffle cake and tea
