Sun stroke… 19. May 2017

A persimmon and rhubarb-oats-spinach yoghurt. The persimmon was surprising, because it had seeds in it. Usually the ones we get in Estonia, never have any seeds. The yoghurt was a good rhubarb yoghurt, but it was disappointing as well, because again, I didn’t find any spinach in it.

 A very gooey cherry pastry

Wild garlic pesto pasta @ Koloniaal

 Limoncello ice cream

Vegetable soup with garlic and mushrooms

Milk chocolate with honey roasted almonds and some coffee

Well, it was the first truly warm, even hot, day. I am not fond of weather too warm, because as usual, my hands and feet swelled up. I felt awful going home from work, feeling too hot, my head started to ache, hands and feet swollen, I was sweaty all over and it was annoying to walk, because my sweaty thighs were rubbing together and hurt. I think it took me around 30 minutes to get home with a stop to the grocery store. I was feeling so sick, head hurt like crazy, so I decided to pop some painkillers and to take a nap… I did so only to wake up an hour later all covered in cold sweat and shivering. I’m sure it was a sun stroke and that it happened because I didn’t wear a hat. The only hat I had with me was a very thick winter hat and I really didn’t want to wear that in the scorching heat. Anyway, I think I’ve had enough of summer for this year, thanks.

Dreams… 11. January 2017

Two sandwiches with chocolate spread and a persimmon

 Tea and two sausage sandwiches

Vegetable soup (potato, carrot, cauliflower) with leafy greens and seeds

A sausage sandwich with some leftover salad from yesterday

Dreams last night involved: Lumi’s puppies; My grandparents had built many log cabins on their property for tourists. The cabins were kind of rickety and I was afraid being in them, because they creaked and wavered; I was given a huge painting station as a gift. It had a built-in easel and drawers for painting supplies. My heart was hurting so much, because I had this amazing working place now but I had lost my ability to do any art; And all the time there was a big party happening. People occasionally went to see my dad’s motorcycle club members, who were sitting amongst themselves, to trade their Rock beers for Alexander beers.

Neruneru… 4. January 2017

Leftover seafood pizza and ramen noodle and mushroom soup made with tom yum paste

Nakayoshi Neruneru DIY candy. It was fun mixing this thing together. The green grape candy was really sour. The pink fluff was strawberry flavoured. The toppings were popping candy and soda flavoured pellets. I can’t say I was crazy about the taste, but it sure was a fun experience xD

I made a video of the candy making process. I liked a lot how the candy goo puffed up into its fluffy form :p I put the music over the video to muffle out my camera noisily changing the focus point and I also need to figure out an angle for the future where my hands wouldn’t be in the way all of the time xD But maybe this is a bit interesting to watch anyway?

 A persimmon and some kiwifruit

 Basil pesto risotto

Huge cheese stuffed meatballs and some salad

I got really fed up in the grocery store, because most vegetables were prepackaged into plastic. Originally the risotto was supposed to be served with roasted zucchini, but since it was covered in plastic in one of the stores (I will not buy zucchini if I can’t nick a taste to make sure it isn’t bitter) and was half rotting in the other store I went to, I got angry and bought the meatballs instead… which were also in a plastic package, but at that point I didn’t really care anymore. Who the hell packages a zucchini anyway? Well, apparently a company called I ♥ Eco, which is simply ironic.

I made dinner and then we watched an episode of “Sweetness & Lightning,” which continues to be adorable, and “Yuri on Ice,” which is quite entertaining, with my boyfriend.

Walking and baking and partying… 9-10. Dec 2016

9. December

 A persimmon for breakfast

I baked a peanut butter brownie (after this recipe) and had a few slices for lunch

Spicy coconut milk soup with shrimp, tofu and rice noodles

We went to our local television studio with the boyfriend to rent some costumes for the upcoming Christmas party at his work. The theme of the party is 20’s fashion and the lady working at the costume department found us costumes in a snap. It was amazing how she just looked us up and down and then picked out the clothes from the long lines of costumes and they fit just right. We didn’t even consider trying on anything other than she picked out for us. Must be years of experience dressing people 😀

10. December

 Omelette and salted cucumber

Party foods:

Crab rolls, deviled eggs, sült (head cheese)

 Veggies and dip

 Meats and sausages

 Sandwich cake

 Meatballs and chicken wings

 Paté stuffed buns

I ate a bit of everything 😛

Quark stuffed pastry (had 2 of these), a slice of peanut butter brownie and coffee. I ended up drinking about 3 cups of coffee near midnight xD

I slept in in the morning, so I didn’t get much done that I wanted. I had planned to do the dishes and clean a bit, but instead I decided to laze in bed with a headache. Eh. Eventually I got up. Then we went to the store to get some groceries and also bought stuff to donate to the food bank. Back at home, I baked another one of these peanut butter brownies and then my boyfriend’s brother came and picked us up to go shopping for presents for our friends. Going to shopping centres is crazy right now; so many people 😦

It took us a couple of hours to find what we needed (+ I scored a cute candle holder, a new kettle and a hexbug cat toy) and then we headed to the birthday party we had been invited to. The party was pretty fun and we got back home around 3am in the morning.

A lot of good food… 28-29. November 2016

28. November

A lemon kohuke and a cup of coffee

A bit of leftover mushroom soup and a cheese and ham pastry

 Some gummy bears

Dinner with my boyfriend, mom and sister @ Rataskaevu 16. Complimentary bread and butter from the house.

Beef tenderloin with avocado + lightly salted fresh cucumber and a mustard sauce. Shared this with my boyfriend.

Oven baked salmon with potato-chives cream, asparagus and sugar peas

 Cappuccino

Warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and raspberry-lime sauce

The dinner was a later birthday gift for my mom and it was a lovely time for all of us. I had such a huge food coma afterwards xD
I also had a family doctor’s appointment in the morning and I accepted her offer to prescribe me anti-depressants. My psychiatrist appointment is in February next year and felt I couldn’t just continue for another two months the way I tend to be right now. So I am hoping that the meds will help.

29. November

Bran and seeds porridge with a chopped-up banana and chia seeds. Also, I ate a persimmon.

Sloppy Joes (I had 2 of these) with cheese and guacamole and some cucumber with nuts and seeds

Café cat… 15-16. November 2016

15. November

 A banana.

 Salad, fried eggs, ham sandwiches.

A ham sandwich and buckwheat soup with cheese.

Sweet potato chocolates. They were super sweet, but went surprisingly well with tea.

16. November

Oatmeal porridge with honey and some persimmon.

Minced meat pie and a café latte @ Nikolay

Another slice of the minced meat pie and then some quark pie.

I met up with Marit in the evening and we got some pie @ Nikolay bar-buffet. The place was really nice with delicious pies, cheeky Russian boys behind the counter and they even had a giant red fluffy cat living in their establishment. I think more cafés and restaurants need a cat or a dog 😀 There is a photo of the cat on my Instagram if you’d like to see.

Two better days… 7-8. November 2016

7. November

Japanese style pumpkin curry with rice and some salad.

Coffee with a couple of vanilla and chocolate chip pastries.

“American Gods” inspired beef curry with rice and salad with fried mushrooms.

I had a nice productive day. I did the dishes, got groceries and cooked a proper dinner, among other this and thats. Since it was also the day I was told to call in to get a psychiatrist appointment, I did just that and spent almost an hour simply trying to get through to the reception. The line was constantly busy. When I finally got through, the first available appointment was for 7th of February 2017 8D I guess now I have an appointment, but it’s almost 3 months away… :/

8. November

Some persimmon and oatmeal porridge (made with rice milk) with honey and butter.

A couple of sausage sandwiches. I am still totally addicted to that kefir bread.

Beef chili with rice and some salad.

 Chocolaaaaate homghhh!

Another nice and productive day. Nothing major, but I did a little bit of everything… washed the dishes, got some thesis documents in order and took time to read a book and take a shower. Felt nice and good.
