Sun stroke… 19. May 2017

A persimmon and rhubarb-oats-spinach yoghurt. The persimmon was surprising, because it had seeds in it. Usually the ones we get in Estonia, never have any seeds. The yoghurt was a good rhubarb yoghurt, but it was disappointing as well, because again, I didn’t find any spinach in it.

 A very gooey cherry pastry

Wild garlic pesto pasta @ Koloniaal

 Limoncello ice cream

Vegetable soup with garlic and mushrooms

Milk chocolate with honey roasted almonds and some coffee

Well, it was the first truly warm, even hot, day. I am not fond of weather too warm, because as usual, my hands and feet swelled up. I felt awful going home from work, feeling too hot, my head started to ache, hands and feet swollen, I was sweaty all over and it was annoying to walk, because my sweaty thighs were rubbing together and hurt. I think it took me around 30 minutes to get home with a stop to the grocery store. I was feeling so sick, head hurt like crazy, so I decided to pop some painkillers and to take a nap… I did so only to wake up an hour later all covered in cold sweat and shivering. I’m sure it was a sun stroke and that it happened because I didn’t wear a hat. The only hat I had with me was a very thick winter hat and I really didn’t want to wear that in the scorching heat. Anyway, I think I’ve had enough of summer for this year, thanks.

Finally… 9-10. May 2017

9. May

A salad with soybeans and chickpeas + some coffee

Jäämari chocolate popsicle and more coffee

 Pasta carbonara

I made a vegetable casserole for dinner, but forgot to snap a photo of it. Oops 😦

10. May

 Cocoa pudding

 A smoothie

Chicken cutlets with sesame seeds and cheese; tom yum flavoured instant noodles with sour cream

Toast with salted salmon, salad and avocado @ Grenka

 Chocolate fondant with ice cream

I had a strange day xD First I slept for almost 11 hours at night which was great, I felt good in the morning. Then I went to get myself a new ID card which went quicker than I expected it to. Went and got some groceries + some junk food, because I felt like it. Then went back home, cleaned a bit and did the dishes. Slept for another 3 hours xD And then went to meet up with Maarja. Our meeting was long overdue as I cancelled the last time, because I was a mess. Anyway, finally we got to hang out, have some great food and talk about life and stuff. It was great 😀

Sad mood… 5. January 2017

 Pesto risotto with some avocado

Chamomile tea and two cherry pastries

Delicious chicken and peanut stew with rice and some salad. I used this recipe, just omitted the sweet potato as I am not overly fond of the taste.

Apple chocolate brownies with some leftover tahini I had laying around. Also had another cup of coffee.

I had an awful nightmare, so I woke up crying in the morning and the terrible feeling from the nightmare stayed with me for the entire day.  I was kind of sad and nervous all day. It’s funny how sometimes when I see a nightmare it disappears as soon as I wake up and realise that it was only a dream, but sometimes something from the dream lingers with you, making you feel upset. Perhaps it has something to do with the subject matter.

Neruneru… 4. January 2017

Leftover seafood pizza and ramen noodle and mushroom soup made with tom yum paste

Nakayoshi Neruneru DIY candy. It was fun mixing this thing together. The green grape candy was really sour. The pink fluff was strawberry flavoured. The toppings were popping candy and soda flavoured pellets. I can’t say I was crazy about the taste, but it sure was a fun experience xD

I made a video of the candy making process. I liked a lot how the candy goo puffed up into its fluffy form :p I put the music over the video to muffle out my camera noisily changing the focus point and I also need to figure out an angle for the future where my hands wouldn’t be in the way all of the time xD But maybe this is a bit interesting to watch anyway?

 A persimmon and some kiwifruit

 Basil pesto risotto

Huge cheese stuffed meatballs and some salad

I got really fed up in the grocery store, because most vegetables were prepackaged into plastic. Originally the risotto was supposed to be served with roasted zucchini, but since it was covered in plastic in one of the stores (I will not buy zucchini if I can’t nick a taste to make sure it isn’t bitter) and was half rotting in the other store I went to, I got angry and bought the meatballs instead… which were also in a plastic package, but at that point I didn’t really care anymore. Who the hell packages a zucchini anyway? Well, apparently a company called I ♥ Eco, which is simply ironic.

I made dinner and then we watched an episode of “Sweetness & Lightning,” which continues to be adorable, and “Yuri on Ice,” which is quite entertaining, with my boyfriend.

An interesting meeting… 26-27. November 2016

26. November

Cereal with milk and a cup of coffee.

Oven-baked pearl barley with smoked bacon and onion + some complimentary bread and butter @ Kuldse Notsu Kõrts

Coffee and a slice of pecan tart @ Kehrwieder Chocolaterie

A cup of coffee, polar bread with ham and tomato, mushroom soup

 A slice of apple-halva pie

Seaweed snacks with olive oil and a cup of tea

I got an unexpected message on facebook a few days ago, that a very long time online friend of mine was in Estonia on a business trip and he asked if I was willing to meet up with him. Years ago, I used to keep a personal journal on a website called livejournal and I think he was one of my very first friends there that wasn’t already a friend of mine outside the livejournal portal. That was maybe 15 years ago now 😀 We haven’t really communicated much after livejournal “died,” but we were in each other’s friends lists and kind of knew what the other was up to thanks to that.

So, we met up and I showed him around Tallinn a bit and helped him find some gifts for his wife and co-workers back in Japan. It was funny meeting a person for the first time that you have kind of “known” for years already :p I hope the terrible weather didn’t scare him off Estonia for good and maybe he will be back one day.

27. November

 Lemon kohuke

 Apple-halva pie and some coffee

 Bread crisps

 Coffee and Kismet wafer

Minced meat and pesto lasagne with loads of veggies

Lazy day. I think I spent half of the day just sleeping :p It felt good though.
