[what I ate.] 14-23. December 2018

Whoopsie! Holidays happened and I cut my finger and needed to get stitches and then I had some rough times at work, so this is why I fell behind with posting again. Welp, time to catch up 😀

14. December

Coffee, marzipan pastry.

Chicken curry.

Chicken curry and a coconut yoghurt drink. The drink was great and had actual pieces of coconut in it which was cool.

15. December – Escape Room

Chicken nugget wrap. Coffee.

Fried squid with dip at Noya. We crashed this restaurant after going to a Leonardo DaVinci inspired escape room. Most dishes we had were shared among all of us.

Mediocre beef tartar and super yummy salmon tartar with avocado.

Hubby ate a waguy “burger”. It was alright. Good beef served with lame bread.

I really liked the tempura mushrooms and white fish. The soup was a Nordic style “ramen” where noodles were replaced with strips of squid. The ramen concept was cool, but I only ate a few bites, because the entire thing was inedible salty. Both I and another girl sent these dishes back 😦

The kitchen sent us some tasty yellowtail tataki as an apology. That was a sweet gesture of them.

My replacement dish for the ramen was Nordic shrimp “tacos.” They were okay I guess, but I would in no way call these tacos xD

In general, Noya left me feeling a bit meh… there were some tasty treats and some failures, but in the end, I felt it was too pricey, especially considering that I was still kind of hungry after sharing all the food (as the restaurant concept suggested). Not worth all the hype I have been hearing about this place, sadly.

Puchitto Soda candies. An amusing treat. (I bought a computer pad 😀 Had to show it off, because I am so happy with my newfound ability to now comfortably read fanfiction in bed 😀 )

16. December

Porridge with butter and a ham sandwich.

A smoothie with bananas and blueberries.

Blood sausages and some salad.

CocoRolls coconut wafers. These were yummy.

Some honey cake scraps :p

Pasta with minced meat.

Some marinated lamprey, potato salad and toast with ham.

Lung pastries.

18. December

Coffee, a poppyseed pastry.

Beetroot risotto.

Erm… some soup and a tiny taco shell canape with veggies.

Syrniki and some cocoa.

19. December – Sister’s birthday

Mashed potatoes with pork sauce.

A strawberry milkshake.

Mashed potatoes, roast pork and marinated cucumber.

Gelatoooooooo

Some mess of a pavlova cake :p It was delicious though!

Some tomatoes, roast duck and some turmeric-onion bread.

Instant noodles.

Mashed potatoes with pork sauce.

21. December – Stitches

Red velvet cake and coffee.

Mashed potatoes with pork sauce.

Gnocci in mushroom sauce. Nom!

22. December

Honey cereal with milk, coffee.

Spicy pork sauce with rice noodles, some salad and hemp seed bread @ Koloniaal

Japanese style tofu curry with rice

It’s official now, I have a job at a small café/grocery store/bakery Koloniaal 😀 It’s going to be an adventure! I need to touch up my coffee making skills. I used to be able to do simpler latte art, but now the milk just doesn’t come out quite right… or maybe I don’t pour it the right way. It is frustrating me  alot right now. However, nothing a little practice won’t fix I think :p

I sent a notification about my job to the unemployment agency as well, so that should be done with. I’m so glad I don’t have to endure another session over there even though my new agent seemed a lot more pleasant.

A couple of crap days… 3-4. November 2016

3. November

 Macaroni with pork sauce x3.

Rice with tuna and furikake x2.

Really bad day. I spent most of it in bed and ate too much.

4. November

Cocoa puffs with milk and a cup of coffee.

 Boiled pelmeni.

French fries with mayonnaise, salad and fried cutlets.

Tea and a couple of pieces of chocolate. I wanted to eat more chocolate, but I accidentally bought dark chocolate and I really don’t enjoy dark chocolate that much.

Wasn’t a very good day either. Ate too much crappy food and didn’t do anything useful.

Last day… 22. September 2016

Coffee, mulk’s porridge with chanterelle-pork sauce.

Vitamin Well Reload vitamin water and What the Fruit raspberry snack bar.

Had two of these vanilla kohuke.

 Rum pastries. Bad photo.

Coffee and cookie cake @ Kohvik Maiasmokk.
You, bitch behind the counter, who you were a complete dick to a confused tourist and later refused to give some tap water to an old lady, I hope you realize what a crap impression you left of the establishment you work in. Sadly, I am not a confrontational person by nature and tend to make things worse when I do try to confront people, because I’m not very eloquent in stating my thoughts. I do however hope you noticed us buying the old lady the water you refused to give her and I hope you felt at least some remorse because you are an awful human being. In hindsight I should have tried to ask for tap water too to see if you’d give it to me but not to her. I am still contemplating if I should write to her employers.

A mimosa @ Telliskivi No15

 Spicy chicken wings

Tuna steak with mint risotto, oven baked veggies and fennel sauce. I hadn’t had tuna for ages (if you don’t count canned tuna and I don’t) and it was super yummy.

 Beer @ Hell Hunt

 Potato fries with ketchup

On the last day of our guests being here we visited the Estonian Open Air Museum. Sadly, we only managed to see about a quarter of the exhibit as it started raining heavily and none of us were prepared for that. I really want to go back there on a better day and explore more, because that place is amazing.

We went to The Museum of Occupations instead. That place was rather depressing to be honest, but at the same time interesting. For a small nation, us Estonians have been through a lot and under many occupations. Only for a little while have we been our own country. Kind of weird this all.

The day ended at Hell Hunt where I got really really drunk xD

This is how we used to live

 A big cock

 Homely

 Windmill

 Resting our feet

 A fisherman’s home

 A traveller’s suitcase

At the Museum of Occupations there was an exhibition about homosexuality during Soviet times.

Randomness in town: that sounds like a challenge :p

It was great finally meeting Sempi and Sylva in real life. The week we spent with them was loads of fun. I got to visit so many places with them I hadn’t been to before and got to eat so much delicious food as well.

The zoo and an escape room… 20. September 2016

Oatmeal porridge with honey and a cup of coffee.

Golden fried shrimp (with potato breading and sweet & spicy sauce) @ Mack Bar-B-Que. These were so yummy!

Damnation burger (mozzarella, fiery hot mayo, jalapeno salsa, nachos, coleslaw). So juicy and deliciously spicy! I also had a delicious orange lemonade.,

Mulk’s porridge with chanterelle and pork sauce; some salad and buttered rye bread on the side.

We went to the zoo in the morning and ended up spending most of the day there. I keep forgetting how big Tallinn Zoo has become and how long it actually takes to walk through the entire place. I love the zoo though and I am always so happy to see how they are working over there to give all the animals better habitats. The place used to be a tiny terrible concrete box where all animals lived in small cages with no greenery around, but now it’s really becoming a beautiful place with hopefully happier animals.

 Pretty Bird

 Aliens

 Food Time

One of the golden eagles took a particular interest in my boyfriend and chased him around in his cage. This was super peculiar!

 Big Cow

 Nomznomz

 *yawn*

 Derpy Goat

The Scariest Carnivore of Them All. Yikes!

 All the Monkeys xD

 Baby Monkey ♥

 A Blue Crab

 What?

 Vantsid ♥

Later in the evening we went to Escape Room. I’ve never been to an escape room before so I had really no idea what to expect. We tried out their “Prison Break” game where you had to, surprise-surprise, bust out of a prison in 60minutes. I am so glad I went there with smart people, because I couldn’t have figured out half of the puzzles myself xD I managed to open one code locked box, which was my only feat in the game… but it was super fun! We had about 8 minutes left on the timer when we got out. I want to go again 😀

We eventually crashed at our place where I cooked our guests some dinner. First time I managed a proper mulk’s porridge, so I think this all was a success 😀
