Work and sleep, nothing much else… 19-21. April 2017

19. April

Four grain porridge with butter and a banana

Mulgi Krõpsud potato chips, Realist sea-buckthorn lemonade and a pancake with ham and cheese

Pearl barley with mushroom-minced meat sauce and some salad

I splurged on my lunch, because I had a bad day. I was supposed to have a day off, but one of my co-workers didn’t show up for his shift, so I rushed in to save the day until someone else could come in and replace me. Unfortunately, I am the only one there right now without children or a second job, so it only made sense that I’d go. I guess I wasn’t really pissed off at having to work, but because having to work, because someone else didn’t attend his duties.

20. April

 Coffee and some fruit bread

Öun apple lemonade with red currant

Eggplant chili with rice, tortilla chips and sour cream

A banana-honey pancake I shared with my boyfriend

Pearl barley and rice with mushroom-minced meat sauce

21. April

Coffee, quark with passion tefruit jam

My new favourite tea from Marks & Spencer- refreshing cucumber, peppermint & spirulina. So good.

Azu, which is a Tatar style pork stew, with sweet potato fries and some salad

More coffee and a Jäämari chocolate ice-cream

A pancake with mushrooms and bacon + some salad

I was working full day shifts for the past two days, because the guy, who didn’t show up for his shift, didn’t appear for his half-day shifts either on the next days. As far as we know, he is fine, just not allowing any contact. It has happened before. I guess he is no longer my co-worker. So, for the foreseeable future, we are understaffed in the café. They are looking for new people, but it’s not going too well as people don’t show up for their trial days and interviews like promised. Just on Thursday a lady didn’t come in for a trial day like she’d promised and only one girl showed up for an interview out of three who were supposed to come.

A work day and a birthday party… 14-15. April 2017

14. April

Coffee and kinako flavoured Black Thunder chocolate

A couple of biter of four grain porridge

Sweet potato fries, fried eggs, bacon and salad @ Koloniaal

Buckwheat-cabbage stew with a fried egg and sour cream

15. April

 Coffee, sandwiches with sausage

I had friends over for a belated birthday party. On the table was: haggis flavoured potato chips, sour cream and onion potato chips, cheese, chocolate, different pastries, tuna onigiri, carrots, cucumber and marinated cucumber, bread crisps, grapes 😀

Saku Antwärk cloudberry and lime cider that was super delicious, Saku Manchester beer

 Birthday candles 😀

It was great seeing all my friends ♥

Coconutty…1. April 2017

 Buckwheat porridge with butter

Jeriska’s Chips with tomato and basil flavour. Yummy stuff.

Spinach pasta with nuts and seeds

I tried making this Coconut Bread Pudding. It’s not a type of bread pudding I am used to, as the kind we make in Estonia is made using white bread, usually has some sort of jam in it and is generally served in a bowl of milk. However, puff pastry, nuts and coconut sounded simply delicious, so I gave it a try. I would call the final product a coconut cake though :p

 It was super delicious 😀

Things happened… 21. February – 2. March 2017

Things did indeed happen, some of them bad, some of them good and this is why the break in blogging happened too. I was either busy, not at home or I was simply too tired to blog and decided to take a nap instead. This post won’t have photos of all the things I ate during this time, because in my busy and tired state I simply forgot to snap some of the photos, so instead I will post some of the nicer photos. Plus, I’ll tell what I’ve been up to for the past two weeks and what some of the bad and good things were that happened.

On the 21st of February I had an appointment in the unemployment agency. I thought it went quite well at first, I had sent out a bunch of CVs to places and had attended two job interviews (one job I didn’t get, because the company decided to close their establishment instead and the second place I rejected, because it turned out to be partly a bar and I don’t want to work in a bar); Also, I named some new places where I was thinking of applying to next. Quite well done for a job searcher, right? I had shown that I am actively searching and working on finding a job. Well, apparently not, because after silently typing for a while, my agent said: “Next time you will see a new agent.”
Me: “Okay. Why?”
Her: “You are a difficult case, so you are assigned a specialized case worker.”
Me: “Okay?!??!?!?!?”

Now this wasn’t really such a big deal, but I think my old agent just flat out didn’t like me; I mean she never said anything good to me and always made me feel bad and demotivated instead. However, this still bothered me as I’ve been doing everything properly and… if *I* am a difficult case, then what are the people who are unemployed for years in the unemployment registry? To be honest, I felt upset and depressed over this for the next few days.

A banana and a couple of rice cakes with mashed avocado (21.02.2017)

A semla with almond cream filling and a cup of coffee (22.02.2017)

Rice cake with cream cheese and salted trout; fried eggs and bacon, some avocado and cucumber-tomato salad (22.02.2017)

Scrambled eggs with tomato and cucumber + some bacon (23.02.2017)

Something new for me: sweet cottage cheese pelmeni with raspberry jam. I had never had sweet pelmeni before. (23.02.2017)

On the 24th of February, Friday, which was also the 99th birthday of Estonia (Yay!), we drove to Aidu quarry for a hike and car safari. I enjoyed the hike part a lot, but the car safari was a bit boring for me as I don’t really enjoy driving around in a car. Still, it was interesting to hear about the quarry’s history and learn about oil shale.

The hike was like a small adventure

It was a sunny winter day

The canal crossing part was a bit scary, because the raft looked like it would sink any moment, but after the first group of people crossed safely it didn’t feel as frightening anymore

On Saturday, the 25th of February, we took the train to southern Estonia to visit family in Karula National Park. They had a bit of a house warming party happening. I helped Loviise to finish up cleaning, then took a nap and in the evening, there was a party with lots of food. The main dish of the evening was lamb meat that had been roasted underground. It was delicious!

There is meat cooking under the bonfire underground

Lamb leg with some roasted potatoes. It was heavenly good! The meat fell right off the bone.

On Sunday, the 26th of February, we spent most of the day getting back home to Tallinn. Travelling is super exhausting, but hey, at least it’s comfortable to read a book on the train.

We ate some nice doughnuts in Tartu before catching the train

On the 27th of February, I went to the gym together with my boyfriend and the world, to my surprise, didn’t end and my boyfriend didn’t break up with me after seeing me being sweaty and disgusting and weak. So yeah, my boyfriend is going to the gym with me now. Go figure.

Baked zucchini, potatoes and tomato (27.02.2017)

Heart shaped potato chips 😀 (27.02.2017)

Oatmeal porridge with raspberry jam and chia seeds + a couple of sandwiches with sausage and tomato (28.02.2017)

Matcha whipped cream and red bean paste semla from Tokumaru and a cup of coffee (28.02.2017)

On the 1st of March, this Wednesday, I had a job interview at small café/bakery/grocery store. It went over the top well and I was invited in for a trial day on Friday. Yay! Take that, rude unemployment agency lady, for labelling me as a difficult case! I CAN get a job, or at least a chance for a job, with the parameters that I want.

Fried eggs, boiled wieners, sandwich with cream cheese and tomato (01.03.2017)

A lemon doughnut and coffee (01.03.2017)

Lentil soup with sour cream (02.03.2017)

Wow, this feels like an actual proper blog post, despite it not having even half of the photos I usually post. Anyway, I will, hopefully, be back to daily posting again from tomorrow. Cheers!

Moana and sleep… 19-20. February 2017

19. February

 Lemony zucchini soup with rice

 Banana bread with raspberries

Shared these cheddar cheese and red onion Kettle Chips with my boyfriend

 Chicken-spinach lasagna with some salad

 Cherry pastry and tea

We watched “Moana” in the evening. It was such a delightful animation and a fun story. I also was super happy at the brief Godzilla reference in it xD

20. February

 Coffee and cherry pastry

Tom yum flavoured instant noodles with sour cream

 Chicken-spinach lasagna

Milk chocolate with coconut and raspberries. Really delicious chocolate.

I’ve been really tired lately, so I have been sleeping long hours and taken a lot of naps :s

Another job interview… 13. February 2017

Scrambled eggs with roast pork and some pickled cucumbers + a cup of coffee. I only ate about half of the food, because I felt queasy and lost my appetite. Boyfriend finished it up for me.

Jeriska’s Chips Balsamico vinegar potato chips. Ate about half the bag and then fell asleep on top of the rest of the bag on the couch.

Celery risotto with a slice of cheese and some pickled cucumber. Again, didn’t finish this all. I’m not sure what is this with loosing appetite, it’s not the first day this has happened either, but before I just shrugged it off. Now it’s getting weird, because I don’t loose my appetite, on the contrary, I want to eat too much when I am stressed.

So, I had another job interview in the morning at another coffee shop. However, it turned out, when I got there, that the place is partly a bar and the barista is also expected to be a bartender. And I don’t want to work in a bar. It’s funny how I didn’t get that vibe from their facebook page at all and I did go through all their info, pictures and reviews. I guess I really should visit all the places before I apply for work in them, it would certainly help to avoid similar blunders the next time.

Also, why is it acceptable to not want to work in a bar for religious reasons, but not because your experience with it wasn’t agreeable to you and you simply don’t want to again? Just something that really rubbed me the wrong way during the interview.

So yeah, I was bummed about the interview. Came home, ate some chips, took a nap, my cats woke me up with a screaming fest. Life goes on.

Bought some lottery tickets and paid my gym subscription again after what… 4 months? Right after paying the gym, I noticed an acquaintance posting on their facebook page about their gym subscription and the group trainings they go to and turns out that she now goes to the same gym and frequents similar trainings than I used to. My first reaction was: fuck, I need to find a new gym. Because in my head I am still in middle school and being laughed at during PE classes. And I know nothing like that would ever happen in the gym now (probably?), but my instant reaction is that if someone I knew would see me exercising, they would make fun of me, because that is exactly what happened to me every time when I was younger. This is why I have an issue with exercising in “public…” It’s something I do only when I am home alone or in an “anonymous” group in the gym.

Anyhow, I agonized for a few hours over the fact that I might run into someone I know in the gym and they may even end up in the same training session with me (and thus see me sweat and look ridiculous?), but then decided to just try and get over myself. So, no new gym for me (mostly, because there could be familiar people in every gym and what then?). I’m still hoping I’m never going to actually see her there.

Welcome to my head. It’s full of issues.
