Yule celebrations and drunk people being idiots… 24-25. Dec 2016

24. December

 Coffee and porridge

Yule dinner: blood sausages, pork schnitzels, boiled potatoes with cream sauce, sauerkraut, meat rolls

 Coffee and delicious delicious cake

Yule celebrations were fun this year. During the day, we helped to decorate the party rooms and I decorated a whole bunch of gingerbread cookies. In the evening, there was a huge feast and then Jõuluvana came and brought everyone gifts. Jõuluvana was awesome, he had an actual long white beard and awesome boots 😀

Sadly, the very end of the evening turned sour for me, as I got upset at some drunk people acting very rudely and then drunk people driving. Unbelievable! Apparently drunk driving is very common with some people in that part of Estonia. I ended up having words with some of them in the middle of the night, but it was no use, as they sat behind the wheel anyway. In hindsight, I should have just confiscated their car keys, but I was too sleepy back then to come up with that idea.

25. December

 Potato salad and coffee

 More of this amazing cake

Berry jelly with ice cream. The family we were visiting has an interesting Yule tradition to always make jelly as a dessert.

Berry gummies that smelled bad and tasted awful. No one in the car wanted to eat them.

A ham and eggs baguette from a gas station

I didn’t sleep too well, because the room was too hot, plus I was super upset over the drunk drivers. I was in a pissy mood the entire day and had real trouble holding myself back so I wouldn’t start picking fights with people over the drunken driving. I kind of felt that they’d just laugh in my face and make me feel even more crap, because of my inability to hold a proper debate. I always end up babbling and forgetting what I want to say, so it wouldn’t have been any use anyway.

We got back to Tallinn very late at night, because people kept stalling our departure with random crap like going to the sauna in the middle of the day etc. I was annoyed to say the least, but eventually we got back home and gosh, there is no place like home. I think I calmed down instantly when I stepped through the door and then had the best sleep ever in my own bed.

Rock bottom and starting to climb up again… 9-10. November 2016

Photobucket still doesn’t work for me, so I am trying out flickr for now. Flickr is a bigger hassle when it comes to linking photos to my blog, but at least it’ll hopefully work. Eghhh… so annoyed how many services are not functioning properly for me these days (that includes: Viber, Skype, tumblr among others)  😦 Please let me know if you are having any issues seeing my photos, I don’t quite trust flickr yet.

9. November

 Sausage sandwich.

 Beef chili over rice.

 Wakame miso soup over rice.

Baked apple with sugar and cinnamon.

I had a panic attack the night before and the bad feeling from it never really went away. I woke up feeling anxious and since I didn’t manage to anything productive for the first half of the day, I ended up crying most of the rest of the day. I think this was one of the worst days I’ve had this year. By the very late evening I finally managed to drag myself out of bed again to make us some dinner. I also wrote to school asking what would be the ramifications if I postponed my graduation to the spring semester. I need more time to sort myself out.

10. November

A baked apple with cinnamon and sugar; also, some spoonfuls of yoghurt with hemp seeds. I didn’t enjoy that yoghurt much.

 Cocoa puffs with milk.

 Coffee and Milka Waffelini wafer.

Popcorn and Fanta we shared at the movies with my  boyfriend.

Fried potatoes, blood sausages, some salad and sauerkraut.

It was a better day for sure. I had coffee in the morning with my mom and then spent most of the day cleaning our apartment. In the evening boyfriend took me to the movies to see “Doctor Strange,” which I enjoyed a lot. I am usually not very fond of 3D movies, but with this one I feel that it’s essential to watch it in 3D. It was visually an extraordinary experience. Also, Benedict Cumberbatch, hot damn!

I did have a couple of anxiety attacks during the day where I was either shivering uncontrollably or couldn’t breathe, but they passed quite quickly and didn’t develop into anything worse.

I also got a letter back from school, saying that I could graduate in spring with the same terms as now, so I guess I will aim to do that. It will give me more time to attempt to get my anxiety and other issues under control and finish my thesis. I hope I can do this.

Weird neighbours… 27. December 2015

Coffee and a BBQ chicken sandwich to go

Boiled potatoes, sauerkraut, blood sausage, sült, marinated cucumber and stewed pork.

Kirju Koer candy. Better than I remember it tasting.

 Beef stew with pearl barley

Tea and Ritter Sport Vanilla Chai Latte chocolate. Had about half of the chocolate. Wasn’t too fond of it.

*

We went to the graveyard to put candles on my boyfriend’s mothers grave and later we went to visit his uncle. Boyfriends older sister and her family also came, so it was a bit of a family reunion for him.

When we were just heading out to go and do all that a strange thing happened. I was locking our apartment door when one of our neighbour ladies arrived home. While she was opening her door she wished me happy holidays and a pleasant end of the year.
Me: The same to you as well!
Her: But I’d appreciate if you stopped the snooping games.
Me: *confused* The what?
Her: The snooping games. Stop doing them.
Me: What snooping games? o_O
Her: *slams her apartment door shut*
Me: What?

So either there are some weird things happening in our apartment complex or our neighbour is insane.

Olde Hansa… 28. November 2013

Grape-green tea yoghurt

Walnut bread, tea

Marshmallow

We had dinner with our department and some guests from our client company in a medieval themed restaurant called Olde Hansa. I loved the atmosphere of the place.

Bread and mead

There was so much food. I had a taste of everything: lentils, sauerkraut, bear meat, elk sausage with horseradish sauce… among other stuff 🙂

Drinking mead 😀

A mighty feast

Washbasin in one of the bathrooms

It was a nice evening 🙂
