Porridge with pumpkin seeds and bits of beef jerky.

Sakura-shrimp kakimochi. This puffed crispy snack was so yummy.

Since I was feeling so down, I asked if we could go to Gotsu for dinner. Hubby said yes. We shared some spicy minced meat rice rolls and a wakame salad.

My favourite thing in the entire world, especially when I am feeling cold or sad: super spicy kimchi stew with pork and some rice to go with it.

A grilled ham and cheese sandwich.

In the morning I went to see a specialist about the thrombosis. She was a lovely and helpful lady who explained the illness from the very beginning to me and set the course of treatment. Sadly, there are still many “we don’t really know’s” with things like this, so I don’t even have an estimate when my hand will stop hurting and when the thrombosis will be gone. Could be a week for the former, could be a month. It all depends on my body they said.

I was taken off birth control and told not to lift heavy things or to exercise. Not sure yet how it will affect my job, but we’ll see. Right now, I am taking a couple of days off to see if the pain lessens. It’s not that bad, the swelling has gone down and my hand is mostly functional, but weak and I can’t make certain movements with it yet.

A well-deserved day off… 25. November 2017

Had lunch with Miss K @ Restoran Yui: started with some nice tofu-wakame miso soup

 Taiyaki and vanilla ice cream

Bacon and tomato sour cream pasta for dinner

Lovely birthday… 9. April 2017

It was my birthday 😀 I am now level 31. It was also my little brother’s birthday, he turned 10.

For breakfast, I had half a pack of these cherries in chocolate.

Then my boyfriend and I went to a Japanese restaurant called YUI for lunch. We arrived about 10 minutes before they were officially open, because we messed up and looked up the opening hours for Saturday instead of Sunday. Oops. However, the waiting staff was super nice and didn’t send us back out of the door 😀

 My lovely lunch date ♥

We ordered a lot of food! xD

First we shared some tempura (battered and deep-fried seafood/vegetables), which I must say is the best you can get in Tallinn as far as I am concerned. There was tempura prawns, salmon and assorted veggies with matcha and curry salt.

Then we shared these tuna-mayo maki rolls.

Prawn creamy croquettes which were oh so creamy and tasty!

 Miso soup

I had a tonkatsu o-bentou (fried pork lunchbox meal), which had rice with more tempura, wakame salad, breaded pork cutlet and a couple of sushi bites.

Look how happy this food made me ;D

A taiyaki (fish shaped cake with sweet bean filling) with honey and ice cream. Never did I imagine I could one day eat taiyaki in Estonia. It’s like a dream come true.

Boyfriend had tofu blancmange with matcha ice-cream as a dessert.

Yui was a great. The atmosphere was lovely, the service swift and polite, and the food delicious. The tastes were so nostalgic and made me miss Japan 😦

We took a hour long walk in Kadiroru park and the seaside after lunch.

 Birdies

 A pretty swan

 Mr. Spock

Later in the evening we went bowling with my family and a bunch of my brother’s friends. This was also fun 😀

 Bowling-oni

 Having a celebratory drink

I had a great birthday for sure 😀

Your pro tip doesn’t work… 10. January 2017

 Porridge with butter and honey

Kettle Chips with sea salt. I ate half the pack.

Chicken in spicy chili sauce with rice, some salad and wakame salad

 Some pomelo

I have asked in several stores if it would be okay to bring my own reusable container for buying meat etc, but the answer has always been no. They say that the health safety regulations won’t allow them to do that and they have package the food in one time use plastic bags/boxes. That really sucks 😦

So, using your own containers when buying food, is one pro tip, many of the “zero waste” or whatnot other eco-friendly bloggers offer, that doesn’t work in Estonia.

Valentine’s date…14. February 2015

Because I am a walking cliché of a woman, I wanted to go on a date on Valentine’s Day… because well, it’s a good excuse to go on a date. We tried out the (only?) vegan restaurant in Tallinn – Vegan Restoran V.

Boyfriend has some kvass and I had an Irish Coffee.

Roasted bell pepper hummus on crispy ciabatta which was so good.

Boyfriend had cashew sweet potato curry and basmati rice with wakame and cucumber salad

I had tofu breaded in black bread with pea purée, baked vegetables and mustard sauce

Boyfriend got some tea and yummy cake

Cappuccino with hazelnut milk. It was interesting and mildly nutty tasting.

Green tea tofu ball in orange mousse

The place had lovely atmosphere, good service and the prices were quite reasonable for a restaurant located in the Old Town of Tallinn. I haven’t got a single complaint about the food or service, only praise 🙂

The single downside to all of this was that this extremely “healthy” food flared up my allergies pretty badly xD But that’s my body’s fault and the food was worth the itching later.
